Great interest was shown during the evening in some handiwork, including a sheath knife made from a Japanese bayonet, sent home by Mr and Mrs Dunton's elder son. who is serving overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F.

After supper, Mr F. W. Keam presented the guest of honour with a wallet as an expression of the best wishes of the people of Welcome Bay.

Telegraphist Dunton, in reply, thanked Mr Keam and those present for the kind sentiments expressed. The evening came to a close with musical honours to Telegraphist Dunton and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." Personal Mr P. J.
