American General's Belief Another Raid on the • Kuriles London, April 16. •The commander of land-based aircraft in the central Pacific, MajorGeneral Hale, has spoken to members of the Seventh Air Force about the war in the Pacific.
He said one of the Allied objectives is.to get heavy bombers within effective range of Japan's war industry- Then, the Pacific war will have reached a final phase, even if it is not over.
"It will not be long before we are over Tokio," he declared. American Liberators and naval aircraft have again bombed targets in the Kurile Islands: The Japanese lost two bombers in a raid which they made on the American positions on the Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshalls. All their bombs fell into the water.
