INDEPENDENCE OF PERSIA
MINISTER’S REQUEST i New York, Dec. 19. 'Mohammed Shayestah, Persian Minister to the United States, in a speech requested the immediate implementation of the Teheran declaration respecting the preservation of Persian independence and the ultimate evacuation of Persia by Allied troops. He said: ' “In view of the fact that Axis forces no longer threaten my country, I hope the Allies will consider it timely to begin the gradual withdrawal oS their troops from Persia. “I also hope they will restore our life-lines to the Persian Government’s control in order to make our co-operation in victory more speedy and effective. Persia is in serious economic difficulties now which have been caused entirely by the war.”
