THREAT TO FARMERS
FOOD SHORTAGE IN ROME London, Dec. 18. In an effort to relieve the food shortage in Rome and the northern provinces of Italy the Fascist authorities have announced that farmers who fail to deliver up the required amount of food will he sentenced to death or life imprisonment. The German-controlled Rome radio says that two Italians, who were arrested while attempting to damage tramcars in Genoa, have been executed. The radio also reports that the commissioner of the Milan Fascist Federation was shot dead in the street by two men who escaped.
