Successful Students In the Government shorthandtypists’ examination held in November, two pupils of the Tauranga District High School, Eileen Nobbs and Maureen Williams,' were successful in gaining a pass. A Bay of Plenty remit protesting against the charge to -farmers for supplying and installing thermostats in dairy sheds was before the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at its monthly meeting and Avas approved. It Avas considered that this should be a charge upon the whole community. Help for Farmers The second batch of men to go into camp here for the purpose of assisting farmers will arrive on December 29 and will be available for work on the farms the following day. It is estimated that the party will number about 20, and the indications are that there will be plenty for them to do. Demands by farmers for their services will, it is anticipated, be very heavy and those Avho Avish to take advantage of this form of labour are advised to make application immediately. From reports received the scheme has proved to be a great success in this district. On wet days the men have been fully engaged on orchard and similar types of work so that their time has not been wasted. The present -camp will break up on December 23.
