CARGO BY AIR

HUGE FLYING-BOATS

PLAN MAY BE ABANDONED

New York, Dec. 17

The Government may abandon the project for building huge cargo fly-ing-boats, says the New York Times correspondent in Washington. Mr Henry Kaiser, who holds a contract with the designer, Mr Howard Hughes, for the construction of three 60-ton craft, will consult officials next month. Mr Kaiser agreed to deliver, the first test model in January, hut it is reported that the flying-boat will not he ready until March. - The chief reason for the Government’s decision to reconsider the project is the British and American success against submarines, which were menacing supply lines when the flying-boat scheme was conceived in September, 1942.
