PEACE WITH BRITAIN

POSSIBLE GERMAN MOVE

Stockholm, Feb. 1

According to reports from Berlin the line of propaganda likely to be adopted bby Germany in her peace offensive will be: “It is not to Britain’s interest to help Russia, therefore let us make peace. Russia should realise that Britain and America want Germany and Russia to exhaust each other in order to help their plan for world domination. Why should Germany and Russia go on fighting for their benefit?”

“We-neither wished for nor reckoned on a war with Britain,” states the newspaper Neueste Nachrichten, according to a message from Munich. “Hitler said again and again that he did riot want a war against Britain.” The newspaper adds: “If, in 1939, somebody had predicted that we must resist simultaneously in Nor'h Africa and at Rjev, Stalingrad, Cologne, Lubeck and Rostov, we would have collapsed. To be equally strong both in the east and west is an almost superhuman demand, which we must meet and overcome.”
