38 SPIES ARRESTED
VAST RING IN AMERICA
CONTACTS WITH BERLIN NEW YORK, Jan. 25 The arrest of 3 8 spies in Buenos Aires followed information contained in three United States memoranda sent to Argentina proving the existence in the country of a vast spy ring, obeying instructions from the. German High Command through the German Embassy in Buenos Aires correspondent of the New York Times.
The memoranda revealed that the spy ring operated all over America, including the United States. They supplied the text of many messages exchanged between Buenos Aires and Berlin, which were intercepted by the United States. These messages showed that the, German Embassy in Buenos Aires was the headquartersof the Axis espionage and sabotage system and transmitted to Berlin information of Allied merchant vessels, warships and air liners, also transports to Africa, as well as secret production data.,
