TYRE PROTECTER

PREVENTS SLOW LEAKS DUE TO STATIC Many slow leaks in passenger car inner tubes are caused by sparks of static electricity which can be neutralised and the leaks prevented by a powder blown into the inner tubes, according" to Dr. S. M. Cadweil, director of development, ' tyre division, United States Rubber Company. The static charges are generated by friction of the tyre on the road surface. As the charge is generated on the tyre it causes static sparks, to jump to the inner tube. Wherever there is a thin spot or break in the rubber covering on the inside of the tyre there is a minute gap between tyre and tube. If the resistance is higher in the surrounding area, because of the excellent insulating qualities of rubber, the static charge will jump or arc across the gap. And this sparking will be repeated. The spark will generate ozone from the air and the ozone will attack and eventually rot the rubber. The solution lies not in eliminating static generation but in neutralising it. About two grams of a special powder is injected through the valve stem of the inner tube. The powder readily distributes itself and adheres to the Avails of the inner tube forming a conductive layer. Once properly applied the treatment is permanently effective. The powder is U.S. Automotive Static Neutralise!*.
