COMBINED BOWLING CLUBS

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE MEETING The final meeting of the combined Tauranga bowling clubs’ tournament committee was held on Thursday. The number of entries was 58, the same as last year. Entries from the two local clubs, Te Puke and the Mount clubs accounted for 15 teams, Auckland centre and suburbs as far as Pukekohe for 18 teams, and the balance of 15 teams come from the Waikato, Thames, Rotorua and Matamata districts. Owing to the war and travel restrictions no entries came from Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay or Wellington districts. The committee has had a strenuous time securing accommodation for the outside teams and in a lot of cases their wives also, and every hotel and boarding house in town is booked, and in se% r eral cases private houses have been good enough, to accommodate some. Given fine weather this tourney, with the 232 bowlers and visitors, bids fair to eclipse the previous tournaments, and the committee has been- hard at work making all the necessary arrangeThe ladies’ committees of the two clubs have the catering arrauge—h, ..c-ii in hand.
