The following is a summary of the latest war news: TRIPOLITANIA Fighting in this area is nearly over. A few of Rommel’s tanks have been engaged west of Tripoli but the majority of his armoured units are already across the border into Tunisia. Our planes continue to make widespread attacks over a wide area west of Tripoli. TUNISIA There is no fresh news of land fighting from Tunisia. Our troops in this area are getting good air support. The best Axis airfield in Tunisia that 30 miles south of Gabes, has been heavily hit by our Middle East bombers.. RUSSIAN FRONT Following their capture of the important railway junction at Armavir, in the Caucasus, the Russians are advancing on Krapotkin and Tikhoretsk in their great drive on Rostov. There is no news of the situation at Maikop, the only oil-wells which the German army could get for all its trouble. The German armies in the Caucasus are now in a most serious position. While the Russian armies advancing from the north towards Rostov are not making such speed as their comrades in the south nevertheless they are making good progress and Hitler faces an equally serious situation on the Voronezh front. The Russians are rapidly closing in on Voroshilovgrad. They have captured a town 59 miles to the north-west and arc only 10 miles away to the east. RAIDS ON BERLIN Reports are being received from neutral sources of the terrific bomb damage in Berlin caused by the recent K.A.F. raids. v Buildings were blown hundreds of feet into the air.
