WOMEN'S DIVISION

TAURANGA BRANCH OCTOBER MEETING The October meeting of the Tauranga branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held recently. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs Meharry, those present reciting The Women's Creed and the League Prayer of Peace. Mrs McGill, delegate to the representative meeting, which was held recently, reported on the meeting, and it was decided to support the Blind Institute Appeal, and all the members paid in their subscriptions. Mrs Wright was appointed delegate to the Farmers' Union hi place of Mrs McCullock, who has resigned owing to health reasons. Country members made arrangements to bring in a supply of cleaning rags to be used by the Air Force.

Ten knitted articles were also sent in for men overseas.

With the co-operation of the country branches, it was decided to take charge of the Patriotic Shop on one day during December. An enjoyable luncheon was served by the hostesses, 'Mesdames Gibb, Thompson, Robins and Searle. Mrs Meharry made a presentation to Mrs McKenna of a beautiful trinket box made of inlaid New Zealand woods.

Mrs McKenna, in reply, thanked the members for their kind thoughts. "An interesting place I have visited" was the Roll Call and this proved that several members had travelled from London, Australia and all over New Zealand.

The competitions resulted as follows: —

Wandering shilling, Mrs McGill; shortbread, Mrs McCullock 1, Mrs McPhail 2; small bloom, Mrs Poole 1, Mrs McCullock 2.
