ANOTHER SPLENDID EFFORT Residents of Mount Maunganui made a.splendid response to a special effort by tennis players at the “V” shop on Saturday last to assist the Prisoner of War Fund, the sum of £36 5s 2d being raised. Also £ 1 in the Dinghy Art Union. In the 13-prize competition the following were the winners:—lst prize, iced cake 1 , Mrs GSreenhead; 2nd prize, quilted cushion, W. Wright; 3rd prize, smocked frock, Mrs F. Hill; 4th prize, bag wood, Mrs Watts; sth prize, dinner, C. J. Larkins; 6th prize, dressed fowl; Mrs H. V. Ferguson; 7th prize, knitting bag, Mrs E. C. Sutherland: Bth prize, 61b. sugar, Mrs L. B. Hart; 9th prize, fancy work, Mrs Midwi nter; 10th prize, Donald duck, Mrs Schoheld. jnr.; 11th prize, 41b. sugar, Mrs Baddeley; 12th prize, 4 oven cloths, E. Ebbett; 13th prize, fancy coat hangers, E. Lovell. Other competitions resulted: Dressed doll, Mrs E. Ellright; baby’s knitted set. Mrs J. F.
