VISIT OF MEDICAL MISSIONARY
j One of the most accomplished '/young men of this Dominion in the person of Dr Allenson G. Rutter, M. 8., Ch.B., F.R.C.S., D.T.M. and H., Will be paying a brief visit to Tauranga on Friday \pf this, week. Deeply spiritual and possessing a wonderful personality he is setting a magnificent example of service and selfsacrifice in his work as medical missionary in the British Solomon Islands for the Foreign Missions Board ! of the Methodist Church of New Zealand. '
During his student years he won 'a travel scholarship, and going to England he studied tropical diseases and hygiene, particularly in view of the prospects of his present appointment. At the diploma examination in London, with candidates from all parts of the world, he distinguished himself by scoring the highest marks. Going on to Edinburgh, he passed the College of Surgeons' examination, when only a few weeks over the minimum age stipulated. At the Helena Goldie Hospital, Bilua, Dr Rutter's base, there were treated during 1940, a total of 248 in-patients and 43,446 out-patients apart from those treated at branch hospitals, for ail of which he is the only doctor.
As Dr Rutter is a fine and inspiring speaker, his public meeting in Tauranga on Friday evening at 7.30 in the "Methodist Church is certain to attract much public interest.
