AMERICAN NEWS

LETTER FROM MICHAEL

LERNBR

FILM TO BE RELEASED IN NEW ZEALAND

Mr B. K. Gifford, Secretary of the Deep Sea Fishing Club is in frequent touch with Mr Michael Lerner, I leader of the Lerner Expedition which visited New Zealand including Tauranga in 1938. The letter which is dated New York, January 6, reads: —

“Thank you ever so much for the . beautiful Christmas number of The Weekly News and the reproduction of the painting of the Graf Spee Battle. They certainly represent fine photography, and I am glad to have them.

“We have just returned from Alaska where we had a very interesting and successful hunt, and I leave within the next few days for Peru, South America on an expedition for the American Museum of Natural History. This is ttye second expedition in these waters, and our search is for black marlin and the giant Pacific squid, with which we had some experience on the first expedition.

“On March Ist., Warner Bros, are releasing the New Zealand short taken by us .in Kodachrome. The name of the picture is ‘Fight Fish Fight,’ and I think you will find it interesting to have your local theatres request this -film.

“Both Mrs Lerner and I are feeling fine, and send you our kindest regards and best wishes for a Happy New Year to Mrs Gifford, yourself, and our friends.-

Sincerely, MICHAEL LERNER.”
