NINE LANDED BY TWO PARTIES

There was no lack of thrills #« the members of two parties spent the week-end fishing the wate - off Mayor Island, no fewer than nr* big fish being landed from J* 6 launches Naomi and Tui. the total weight of the fish caught being 20d pounds. The two parties were ont on the fishing grounds for two days, Saturday and Sunday, and it is reported that both swordfish and mako shark are very plentiful at present. For the remainder of the season, therefore, it is anticipated that sport should be particularly good. The members of the party are naturally very enthusiastic with the result of their week-end and -there is no doubt that they have good cause to be. In addition to their thrilling en counters with swordfish and mako, tho party was treated to the added experience of seeing large schools of flying fish, one of the launchmen describing the scene as one of the finest he had ever seen. It was, he said, common to see these fish hut he had never seen them in such large numbers. They were breaking the water at about 50 a time, and two of them landed in the cockpit of the Naomi.
