Pasha the Lion is Bored

Pasha, the lion, an old-time player in pictures, refused to do his turn the other day when he had to maul at villain Humphrey Bogart as he passed Pasha’s cage. The sequence is in Warner’s circus picture, “The Waggons Roll At Night.” When the big moment came, Pasha was too bored to move. Finally, the lion’s private tamer, Louis Roth, had to do the act instead. Bogart was mauled by the hands of Roth, escased in painted canvas, completely with hairy paws and false nails. Roth in the cage, of course, and Pasha, bless him, asleep ,in a corner.

Hollywood producers have re-dis-covered the circus as a background for film stories. Three films with a travelling show background are nearing completion, two others on the way. We have “Chad Hanna" from 20th Century, “Roadshow” from Hal Roach and “The Waggons Roll At Night” from Warners.
