MALTESE CHEER FLEET
Great crowds gathered at Malta and cheered the British Fleet, including the battleship Warspite, flying the flag of Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham, Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean.
Sir Andrew was accorded an enthusiastic reception wherever he went, the cheering crowds frequently stopping his car in the dockyard. In thanking the people, Sir Andrew said: "I have done nothing to deserve these cheers. .You should cheer yourselves."
