HOME LEAGUE

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Wednesday was a very special day for members of the Home League and their friends, as it marked th 6 League’s second birthday which was celebrated in conjunction with the 4 6th anniversary of the founding of the Salvation Army in Tauranga.

An afternoon tea party was held in the Army Hall which was filled to overflowing.

Mrs Andrew was in charge of the meeting and assisting her were Adjutant Andrew and Adjutant and Mrs Smith of Auckland. After a short speech of welcome there were several items including duets by the leaders and poems by Mrs Forshaw and Mrs Smith. The company joined in singing several hymns and also in the recital of promises drawn from a box. Following this came a simple and impressive address entitled ‘‘Trysting Places” and given by Mrs Smith, who fittingly concluded with another poem.

A closing prayer by Mrs Andrew preceded the serving of tea and the cutting of the birthday cake. The latter ceremony Avas performed by Mrs Moore, the oldest member of the Home League, and one of the most valiant, workers for the Army, amidst applause. Everyone present sampled the cake and a most enjoyable meeting concluded about four o’clock. The Home League though established by the Salvation Army is undenominational, an,d meetings are held every Wednesday. Nbav members are cordially rvelcomed and a great deal of good and helpful work is carried out.
