AUCKLAND QUOTATIONS Commenting on grain and produce markets in Auckland during the past week the Auckland Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association has issued the following official report, prices named being f.o.r. or f.0.b., Auckland.

Potatoes. —The local market has been in short supply this week owing to the late arrival of the Waimarino. This vessel arrived on Monday with an average cargo of table and seed potatoes. The market in the south has been steady during the past week, Grand National week usually being a quiet time for business houses. Values show little change and the Auckland current price for reds and whites, delivered city or f.0.r., remains at £2l a ton. Inquiries are still being made overseas in connection with importations of potatoes, and negotiations are proceeding regarding the purchasing of supplies.

Onions. —Limited quantities of local onions are still coming on to the market at higher prices, and this is having the effect of increasing the demand for Japanese. Current prices are; —Japanese, 22s a crate; local, 23s to 24s per cwt. Maize. —Stocks of maize from Gisborne are coming along more freely, although the bad weather is still causing a delay to some shipments. Several ships are now unloading and the condition is good. Current ex store prices remain unchanged, these being 7sv2d to 7s 4d a bushel, while 10 sack lots, ex ship as they arrive,, are 6s lid a bushel.

Fowl Wheat. —Fresh supplies • of Australian fowl wheat aro available this week, and deliveries in minimum 10 sack lots are being made and will continue until the end of the week. Prices still remain unaltered at 7s 3d to 7s 4d a bushel. ,

Barley. —Deliveries of barley this week show an increase of 2d a bushel on all deliveries, making the ex store prices 4s 6d to 4s 8d a bushel higher. Special prices for 10 sack lots, ex Government stocks held in store, will be 4s and 4s 6d a bushel for undipped and clipped respectively, these being the cash with order prices, minimum 10 sack lots.

Bran and Pollard. —The demand is very good throughout the 'country for bran and pollard, ample stocks being, on hand. Fresh arrivals of both lines are to hand this week and all ex ship and ex store orders are being delivered by merchants expeditiously. Prices are' £ 8 5 s to £ 9 a ton for Australian bran, and £7, 17s 6d to £ 8 10s a ton for pollard.

Oats and . Chaff.—-This market remains unaltered, with fair quantities moving out. Chaff is selling at £lO 2s 6d to £lO 10s a ton and oats from 4s 5d to 4s 6d a bushel
