BRAVE ACT
DANCER SAVED The courage of Percy Reid, stage hand at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, saved Dawn Smith, 12, from serious injury. Seeing that the little dancer was about to be caught in the revolving stage, Reid interposed his foot, realising that he himself would be in : jured. Thus he prevented the girl’s foot from being severely crushed. Reid’s right leg was lacerated above the ankle. The girl’s foot was badly bruised and cut at the ankle. She suffered from shock. This is the second occasion on which the stage has been responsible for similar injuries.
