WOMEN’S INTERESTS
REPRESENTATIVE COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the Women's Representative Committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday last. Representatives of Tauranga Women's Institute, Federation of Women's Institutes. Women's Division of the Farmers Union. Girl Guides, Women's Division of St. John Ambulance. Taunt n. 2 a Progress League t Womens Branch), Methodist Ladies' Guild, attended, the Mayoress, Mrs Wilkinson, presiding. The principal business of the meeting was the finalising of arrangements for the visit of Miss Elsie Andrews, all organisations having arranged, for their own share of the work involved. In spite of many counter attractions, it was felt that large numbers would attend the meeting on Wednesday evening. A letter from the Nurses' Association was received, stating that Miss Bartlett had been elected its representative on the committee. Discussion look place us to the advisability of sports bodies being represented on the committee, and it was agreed to await application on their part. A request from the Borough Council. that a committee of three be appointed to supervise, and present a monthly report on the Ladies’ Rest Room, was dealt with, Mesdames Hausen, Faulkner, and Policy being appointed. Later in the meeting, members of the Hospital Board, and Mr C. H. Burnett, M.P., met the committee, when matters relative to the Creche ami Rest Home owned by Mrs Work, were fully discussed; with a view to establishing a fund for the assistance of necessitous cases, to which the Creche would be a very great j help. Nothing definite could he 1 finalised, but certain avenues were ) to be explored whereby such a fund | might come into being.
