FARMERS’ UNION

DISTRICT MEETINGS The second of the series of meetings which the President of the Farmers’ Union, Mr A. C. Harrison, is paying to outlying districts, was held on'Friday night at the Te Puna Hall. Mr Harrison explained the reason for the visits, which is to get in touch with those farmers who find it difficult for various reasons to attend the usual monthly meetings. He gave an account of the work the Union was doing for farmers. He described the good work done at the Provincial meeting in Auckland and the high standard of debate that obtained there. Mr H. J. Angus (Secretary) spoke on the necessity of the farmers having a complete knowledge of their own problems and stressed the fact that it was only by attending meetings that this could be gained. The meeting then became informal. Supper was supplied by the ladies and animated discussions on farmers’ problems were continued over the hall in small groups. Four new members were enrolled and a pleasant and satisfactory meeting was concluded at 10.30 p.m.
