FIRST ROAD RACE WIN FOR 11. SFTHEKHAND The Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its tirst road race of the season yesterday, when a large number of interested spectators assembled at the Domain gales to see the start and finish of the race. Eleven starters lined up to take part in the race, the course being round the Cambridge Road block, a distance of approximate!'* fourteen miles. The limit rider. R. Norris, was away to a good start, followed at intervals by the rest of the held. The race proved very interesting and was keenly contested .the wind unfortunately being against the riders, making fast times impossible. The lirst of the riders to arrive at the tinish were well bunched, the race resulting in a win for R. Sutherland off the 5 minute mark. F. Norris, also off smin., being second. A great tussle for third resulted in a dead heat between K. Norris off S minutes and R. Quayle off 3 minutes. The time for the race was Itlmin. 35 3-ss. The fastest time. 43m ISs, went to J. Wooller, who rode a line race off Imin. The other riders who took part were; W. Policy scr., J. Stewart loin., A. Clyde 1 Am., N. Coker 3m., and A. Thwaites am.
