The Bay of Plenty Times of April 2. ISSS, contained the following paragraphs;
•‘On Monday evening the first appearance of the ‘To Puke Niggers' attracted such a large attendance fi s the school room that there was n O J even standing space for those who came late. The first part of the entertainment consisted of a Christ minstrel performance, in whirl’s Messrs White ami Mead acted as corner men. with Messrs C. Willmott and J. Tanner, as junior bones, and their conundrums and fooleries were prodnctvie of much merriment, whip, Mr W. Fraser undertook the Buries of interlocutor. At intervals. Messrs Brady. Williams. L. Harris ami IhA ridge senior and junior, contribute,! songs, all of which received well ued applause. Tae second pan o[ - tho performance was a farce, j.*. winch the Niggers were got up a , most extravagantly dressed young ladies, while Mr Mead, the promoter of the entertainment, fulfilled the part of a travelling physician, w| w was the object of the darkle girly affection. After the conclusion of the programme, the floor was cleared and dancing kept up until a km hour.”
