DEARER EGGS
NOW 3s 2d A DOZEN Auckland, April 20. An increased demand and a decrease in the number of produce's have combined to force prices of eggs to the highest level for many years. First-grade hen eggs are now selling in Auckland shops at 3s 2d a dozen, about 7d higher than at this period last year. Large numbers of eggs have been purchased for the crews of the Australian warships. Considerably more than 2000 dozen were taken'oii board yesterday and at this time of the year that represents a large portion of the local supply.
