FURTHER CATCHES "seven swordfish and one MAKO The launch Tui (Mr Marshall) re-j turned on Saturday evening from Mayor Island with -Mr and .Mrs F. Krejcik, of Vienna. Austria, who made their second trip to the island. Again they enjoyed excellent sport, landing seven swordfish and a mako shark. The big fish all fought strenuously and the weights of the swordfish ranged from 2201 b. to 3301 b. The mako weighed 2Ci)lb. Mrs Krejcik caught two swordfish and the other six big fish were caught by Mr Krejcik. Mr and Airs Krejcik on their first trp caught three swordfish. They will go out to Mayor Island again this week, week. Visiting Launch "Marlin” I The deop-sea fishing launch Marlin arrived in port from the fishing grounds off Mayor Island to-day. The Marlin, which was built at Russell about two years ago by the owner, I Mr Leon Warn, is a well appointed launch and is powered with a G 5 h.p. Kermath engine. It is specially built to suit the deep-sea fishing, with a length of 3(5 feet and 12ft. Gin. beam with two swivel chairs fixed in the poop. The cabin accommodation has plenty of width and head-room with sleeping accommodation for four. The Marlin is a comfortable cruising and fishing launch, Mr Warne has had many years’ experience of deep-sea fishing and the launch was built in the light of that, experience. The Marlin is on a round crui;e and left Auckland on Thursday, the Mercurys being made that night. A call was made at the Aldermans on Friday and Mayor Island reached the same afternoon. The fishing grounds were tested on Saturday and Sunday, when a 2341 b. striped marlin .win landed. The party, which consists of Mr Leon Warn (Russell), Mr Jim Whitolaw, of Whangarei, and Dr, W. S. Brooks and Air Percy Arnett, of Sydney, purpose cruising up fhe Coast, to-day, calling in at Mayor Island, The Barrier and Cuvier, which they hope to reach to-night. Dr. Brooks said he had visited the Barrier in Australian waters, where tunny and other big fish were caught.
