We take .the following from the Bay of Plenty Times of January 2S. ISS6: —
“We learn that Mr A. J- Vegan who was lately attached to the New Guinea geographical expedition, has arrived in Auckland by the airarapa, and purposes visiting Tan ranga immediately, when he will deliver some interesting lectures to the members of the Institute.
“Mr Stephen Earl, Aongatcle, has opened up a new market for his bricks, and during the last three weeks has been busily engaged carting these to Ohinemutu. After many trials, Mr Earl informs us, he has been successful in turning out a really good article, and hopes to establish a connection for this local industry. Hitherto bricks at Ohinemutu were sold at between £2O and
£24 per 1000, whereas Aongatete bricks can be delivered there by Mr Earl at about half this price.”
