DISSENSIONS IN THE BOROUGH COUNCIL
Sir,—Your correspondent “Seeker After Truth” uses an unfortunate hom-de-plume. Had he been sufficiently interested in public affairs to have read the reports on Council meetings published recently in your paper, he would not be still seeking the truth. Apparently the truth revealed in my letter which appeared in your issue of the 30th October last, is not much to his liking; facts are hard things, and those stated in my letter have apparently proved unpalatable to your correspondent. The Mayor has a mandate from the people to reduce unfair electricity charges, from which undue profits are accumulating, and he has the approval of all right-thinking people in endeavouring to protect a consumer from being charged more than that consumer should be charged. The Mayor’s “steps” are therefore in perfect accord with those of the majority of the electors, yet “Seeker after Truth” is so imbued with his silly story that he verily believes all these people are "out of step,” while the half-dozen councillors whom he elects to champion, are -ight.
D’O. PIERS SNOW.
