The Military Ball, which was held at Tauranga oh September 23 resulted in a net profit of £2l Is 2d. This sum is to be divided on a 50/50 basis ; between the Western Bay of Plenty Returned Soldiers’ Association and the local units of the Hauraki Regiment. The Returned Soldiers’ Association will devote its share of the proceeds to assisting needy cases, while the portion for the Hauraki Regiment will go towards the purchase of necessary equipment. Very light rain commenced to fall shortly after eight o’clock last evening and . continued all night and today, the fall having been heavier since 7 a.m. The total as registered by The Camp gauge at 3.30 a.m. today was 39 points. The rain, following on that of last week, will promote the growth of pastures and also In flower arid vegetable gardens, and should be very beneficial to orchards;
The supplementary roll in connection with the Parliamentary election closed at 6 p.m. yesterday. The roll will iContaln 2620 names, which added to 9384 on the main roll, gives a total of 12,004 names.
