MONETARY REFORM
Immediate and Open Inquiry
URGED BY COUNTY COUNCIL
At the meeting of the Tauranga County Council yesterday Cr Blaymires moved —That this Council, while being appreciative of measures already taken to reduce costs and interest charges, urge the Government to institute an immediate, exhaustive and open inquiry into the matter of monetary reform, as a means of improving the economic condition of the country: that a copy of the motion be forwarded to all County Councils; in the Dominion, —In speaking to the motion, Cr Rlaymiros said the question was an important one. There was talk of restricting the output of butter, tint he thought that was impracticable. The world transport system was efficient and he thought the trouble was due to the present monetary system. Cr Mends seconded.
Cr Gane said he had been thinking along the same lines a* Cr Blaymires and he thought the present time was opportune for such a. motion. They must have some means of canning on so that the New Zealand people could pay their way, irrespective of the world position. He had pleasure in supporting the motion.
The Chairman. Cr MacDougall, said the motion was a sensible one in many ways.
The motion was carried unanimously.
