AERO CLUB

GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of the members of the Tauranga Aero and Gliding Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night at 8 o’clock, the President, Mrs Hewlett, being in the chair. The minutes of the last general meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence from Mr C. H. CUnkard, M.P., of Rotorua, and ) plr Charles Kingsford Smith was read and received.

The members decided to confirm the action of the previous meeting in electing Sir Charles Kingsford Smith an honorary life member of the Club. His Worship the Mayor, Mr B. C. Robbins, Mr J. G. Green, Chairman of the Harbour Board, and Mr Fred Norton, of Wanganui, were also elected as honorary life members.

Mrs Ma.cDiarmid was elected as an active member, and Mrs Brake, Mrs Gichard, and Messrs F. Pillans, M. Steele, Avey, W. F. Cross, and Dr, MacDiarmld were elected as associate members.

The rules were altered to provide that new members elected after January 31st eachi year should pay half the ordinary fee. The Secretary reported that he had received an invitation for members of the Tauranga Club to attend a meeting which is to b© field at Whakatane next Friday to promote the formation of an Aero Club in that town.

Several members intimated their willingness to attend. This concluded the business of the meeting.
