LATE MRS GREEN.

FUNERAL. OBSEQUIES. The funeral of the late Mrs Green was held yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended. The chief mourners were Mr Green, Mr Jack and Mr Syd. Guinness, Mr and Mrs L. Green and Mr G. A. Foster, and the pall bearers were Messrs R. R. Randle and C. Randle, Geo. Willcock, H. S. Riggir, Arthur Stewart and A. M. Poole. The ceremony at the graveside was very ftnpressively conducted by the Rev. O. S. O. Gibson. The whole of the local bodies and sports organisations throughout the district were represented, and many others were present from Te Puke and other parts of the district, while old. friends in Mr N. Quirk and Mr A. D. Jones were present from Te Aroha.. The many floral tributes carried to the graveside were a striking testimony to the universal esteem in which the deceased lady was held. Before the Borough Council proceeded to the transaction of business at last night’s meeting, the Mayor, Mr B. C. Robbins, made reference to the death of Mrs J. G. Green and moved—That the sympathy of the Council be extended to Mr Green and family in their bereavement.— In doing so the Mayor spoke in terms of praise of the good work that had been carried out by Mrs Green in the interests of the town over a long period, and said she would be greatly missed.—The motion was passed in silence, all present standing as a mark of respect.
