DAIRY PAY-OUTS.

BASIS OF DISBURSEMENTS. The usual basis of distribution by co-operative dairy companies was outlined by Mr G. A. Duncan, secretary to the Hawera Dairy Company, in an address to farmers in the Normanby Town Hall, the following being quoted as comparative returns;

Butter at 110 sin London was equal on a butter-fat basis to 14.32 d per lb. gross, said Mr Duncan. The charges from f.o.b. crediting the exchange premium, were 0.55 d, and the charges up to f.o.b. 2.50 d, the total charges, being 3.05 d., leaving a payment to the supplier of 11.27 d. On a percentage basis the total charges absorbed 21.30 per cent., leaving 7 8.70 per cent, as representing the pay-out. Cheese at 60s in London, on the basis of a 2.5 yield, would be equal to 16.07 d per lb of fat. If the value of whey butter, .7 2d, were added the gross London value would be 16.79 d per lb of fat. The charges from f.0.b., allowing the exchange of £8 10s per cent., were 1.60 d, and the charges up to f.o.b. 3.60 d, a total of 5.20 d, leaving payment to the supplier of 11.59 d. On a percentage basis the charges absorbed 30.97 per cent., the balance for the suppliers being 69.03 per cent.
