THAMES BOROUGH.
PAYMENT OF KATES, A total of £13,885, of 53.9 per cent., had been paid out of a rate levy of £25,747, for the borough of Thames, when the 10 per cent penalty was imposed at the end of March. The financial position of the Borough was considered by the Mayor of Thames, Mr S. Ensor, and a number of the principal ratepayers yesterday. Last evening a meeting of the finance committee of the Borough Council-was held to discuss the bondholders’ interests and the financial position of the borough.
