GOLFING TRAGEDY
Player and Caddie Killed. , STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. ‘London, March 30 A retired business man named Kelly, aged 70. was golfing at Maidenhead with his 15-year-old caddy, a widow’s only son, and were approaching the 17th green when a sudden and brief thunderstorm broke. They hurriedly sheltered beneath Mr Kelly's umbrella, and both were killed instantly by lightning. Their bodies, badly burned and mutilated, were found near the green, with the clothing ripped to shreds. Mr Kelly’s beard was singed off. Another player, who- was partnering Mr Kelly was struck by the same flash but he managed to stagger dazedly to the clubhouse, burnt on his arms and legs. His condition, however, is not critical.
