NO. 3 DISTRICT BODY. A preliminary and informal meeting of the No. 3 District Licensing Authority will be held in Hamilton on Tuesday. No official business will he transacted, as the agenda will merely embrace matters of organisation. It is expected that the first public meeting in Hamilton will take place on the Tuesday following. Fifty-two applications have already been received from all over the district. The No. 3 district comprises the counties of Raglan, Waipa, Waikato, Hauraki Plains, Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Tauranga, Piako, Matamata, Rotorua, Taupo, Whakatane, and Opotiki, and all the boroughs in or contiguous to them. It covers the largest area of any of the North Island authorities', and is probably more congested from a traffic service point of view than any outside of the Wellington and Auckland city districts.
The headquarters of the No. 3 authority will be at Hamilton, but it will be necessary for its members to hold meetings at various places throughout the district. lu common with the other district authorities, however, it will only deal with services running within its boundaries. All services operating in at least two districts are dealt with by the central authority at Wellington.
