Capetown, March 2S
Mr J. A. Mollison, the noted airman.’ holder of the Australia to England flight record, and who is endeavouring to lower the time for a flight from England to the Cape, left Walflsh Bay for Capetown on the last hop of 800 miles at noon. Mr Mollison landed safely at 5.35 to-night at Milnerton Beach, missing the Wingfield aerodrome by a few miles, though it was fully . lighted with beam visible for 150 miles. Milnerton is six miles north of Captown. The airman rushed to the aerodrome in a car. where a large crowd gave him an enthusiastic welcome. The total time of Ills flight is four days 16 hours, and he thus creates a new record heating Miss Peggy Salaman’s time hy 11 hours.* Ho had two forced landings, the first when crossing the Sahara, owing to overwhelming sleepiness, and the second on the banks of the Niger owing to engine trouble. He said he had actually flown four nights without sleep.
