AMUSEMENTS.

THE REGENT. “The Hole in the Wall,” Paramount’s all-talking mystery drama, will be screened finally to-night. Claudette Colbert, as the slender beauty who turns criminal for revenge upon a wealthy woman who had wronged her,, was ravishingly lovely in spite of the dire stratus to which she had fallen in the picture. She played her role with supreme intelligence, and left nothing to be desired. Edward G. Robinson as “The Fox” who is the “brains of the band of criminals that preys upon the rich people of/ the city by fake spiritualistic methods, was a convincing heavy. His part called for a display of; '.suavr- cunning coupled with a sinstcr treachery which made it a characterisation difficult of portrayal in any other hands. Robinson carried off the part with distinction. After carrying its audience throuhg a maze of shivery scenes, the picture winds up happily and the beautiful heroine is reconciled with her boyhood sweetheart. Seats may be reserved by ringing the Regent, ’phone zB6.

Another fine programme will be screened to-morrow headed by Irenes Rich and dainty Audrey Ferns in ‘‘Women They Talk About.” This feature is the story of a political battle between a self-made Mayor and the woman he at one time loved. To further complicate matters the son of the Mayor and the daughter of the would-be-Mayorcss fall in love. Henchmen of His Honor perform various tricks on the opposing party, among which is the kidnapping of the woman candidate’s daughter. The Mayor is shot by accident—he wins through at the polls. He has a period of convalescence in which the old love is revived—and all ends in a way highly satisfactory to the public —to judge from the applause and chuckljng which accompanies the piece wherever shown.
