, THE REGENT. A splendid double star programme will be shown at the Regent to-night, headed by Mary Astor in “The Woman from Luna.” This is an exciting story of a show girl’s life, and her fight against odds to lead an honest life. Novel backgrounds and unusual romance sweep you into a strange life. The second feature is "College Love” and stars George Lewis and Dorothy Gulliver, the popular players who featured in the. "Collegians.” In addition two special talkie subjects titled ‘ Old Black Joe” and Schubert’s Inspiration will be shown. This programme will be screened for to-night only. Owing to our booking office being jgjosed, seats may be reserved after 5 p.m. by ringing Regent, ’phone 286. OPERA HOUSE. Last Thursday’s specially selected double star programme will be again shown to-night. "Main Event,” the thrilling ringside picture which filled the famous Roxy Theatre in New York at every screening, possesses every element that goes for successful presentation—a splendid cast, able direction. Piquant Vera Reynolds; de Mille star, plays the role of a cabaret dancer who finds herself with two love affairs on hand. Rudolph Schildkraut, who had an important role in “King of Kings," is excellent as the father and manager of Johnnie Regan, the bright youngster whom the dancer seeks to doublecross but later learns to love. Charles Delaney, as Johnnie is a versatile actor of much charm, while Robert Armstrong as “Red” Lucas, a scoundrelly ring champion, is sufficiently menacing to satisfy any lover of screen villains. Irene Rich gives a finished performance in her characterisation of “Ned McCobb’s Daughter,” a swift-moving orama of bootlegging on the coast of Maine. Miss Rich portrays an uniiapplly married young woman who, to save her husband from ajrest, places herself in pawn to a bootlegger. A Comedy, Gazette and News are included in the programme.
