SEDAN CAR SMASHES INTO POWER POLE

Two People Killed and Two Injured. ACCIDENT AT WANGANUI. Wanganui, April 19 Two people were killed and two seriously injured yesterday, when a sedan car struck a power pole at the edge of a wide straight road in a suburb of Wanganui. The killed were: Mr Huia Jeffries, aged 22, married? with no family, of 130, Ghuznee Street, Wellington, driver of the car. Mrs M. CcCarthy, employed at the Victoria Hotel, Petone. The Injured are: Mr F. Aloski, of Ghuznee Street, Wellington, serious, head injuries, the actual extent of which is not yet known and his condition is critical. Mrs Agnes Jeffries, wife of the driver, broken arm and shock. When the impact occurred the right hand side of the car was practically ripped off. The car then careered 150 yards along the street with the front wheel -scraping the kerb. Those concerned were visitors to Wanganui, having just arrived from Wellingtori.
