Mr W. R. Lowry, chairman of the Piako County Coufacil, is spending a holiday in Tauranga. Mr and Mrs j- G. Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., Dominion president of the New Zealand Returned i Soldiers’ Association, will visit Tau- < ranga next week and will deliver the -address at the Anzac Day Service in Town Hall. Messrs W. H. Gifford, F. Allcly S. Pemberton, J. Auld, A. Cronin, C. F. Washer, L. Crowley, H. Lewis, T. Moncur, and C. A. L. Smith, left to-day for Cambridge, where they take part in the bowling tournament Mr and Mrs B. G. Pinker, of Pacngaroa, have left on a trip to the South Island. Mugh sympathy will be extended to Mrs J. K. Hamilton, of Oropi, in the death of her father, Mr \\ . G. Hewitt, which occurred at Poolora, Portadown, Ireland, on the 12th inst. The late Mr Hewitt paid a visit to New Zealand a few years ago. Mrs W. H. Gifford left, this morning for Cambridge, and will play in the croquet tournament during the holidays. Mr and Mrs J- A. Jordan and Miss K. Jordan have left on a holiday trip to Australia, and will be away for some months. The congregation of the First Presbyterian Church 'at Duneriin, was unanimously decided to extend a call to the Rev. W. Allan Stevely, of. East St. Kilda, Melbourne, whoj recently supplied the pulpit for a month. The Mayor of Rotorua, Mr T. Jackson, has received advice that their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloc, will visit Rotorua on April 20. Mr J. Roberts, who has been appointed New Zealand workers’ delegate to the International Labour Conference at Geneva leaves Auckland by the Ulimaroa • to-day, Mr lan Wilson, for a number of years on the staff of the Farmers Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Te- Puke,* has been transferred to Tc Kmti. The vacancy thus caused will be filled by Mr B. Marshall, of the Auckland branch. Miss Eleanor Pollock .and Miss Smith, of Auckland, are spending the Easter holidays with relatives in Tauranga. Mr Kenneth Schofield, of the firm of Messrs R. W. Schofield and Co., of Whakatane, has left on a trip to the Old Country. A well-known figure in farming and sporting circles in Poverty Bay, Mr Edward Rowley Murphy, died at his residence, Waikare station, near Tokomaru Bay on Tuesday. Mr L. R. Wilkinson, was unanimously re-elected President of the Western Bay of Plenty Returned Soldiers’ Association at last night’s annual meeting. Miss A. Mills and Miss R. Nclsop, of Wellington, arc spending a holiday f.ith friends in Tauranga. Miss Murray, Matron of the Tauranga Hospital, is away on holiday leave, an(l Miss Childs is acting as Matron.
