THE MODERN BRIDE.
London, March 24 Mother Brundy, who in recent years has had her feelings fearfully lacerated by the modern maiden with her short skirts and low-neck blonses, daring bathing costumes, bobbed hair, cocktails, and cigarettes, Las been called upon to bear another heavy blow. Yesterday a charming bride, with her handsome bridegroom, walked into a West End registry office, and asked the registrar to make them man and wife without following the age-old custom of placing a golden ring on the bride’s finger. “We are modern, and wedding rings are so terribly old-fashioned, so I do not want one,” she said, smilingly, after the vows had been completed, and the registrar waited for the best man to hand the ring over. It took a few moments for the official to recover from the shock, but he was forced to admit that the absence of the ring did not invalidate the marriage. 4
