VAN WRECKED.
STRUCK BY TRAIN. Auckland, April 8 Cuts on the head and one leg were received by Mr Albert A. Tate, of Waimauku, shortly after noon yesterday, when a motor van he was driving was struck by the engine of a south-bound train on the railway crossing at Waimauku. The car was thrown in the air by the cowcatcher and hurled clear of the line. The injured man was put in the guard’s van and taken to Kumeu, where a doctor waited to give him attention. It was found that his injuries were not serious and he was able to go home. It is reported that Mr Tate was watching the north-bound train, which was at the station, and so failed to see the other train. The van was wrecked.
