PRESENTATION TO MISS BEGAN.
Eor over four years Miss H. Began has occupied tjhe position of sole teacher at Lower Papanioa school and was recently notified of her transfer on promotion as head teacher, to Tauroroa school. North Auckland.
On Friday afternoon the parents and scholars presentol Miss Began with a beautiful Kaiapoi rug, as a token of their esteem. The scholars sang several part songs and recited.
Mr 0. McNaughlon, the Chairman of the Committee, made a very pleasing speech, in which ho referred to the progress of the scholars and to the happy relations that existed between them and their teacher.
The Rev. Mr Sussex endorsed Mr 51 cNaughton ’s remarks.
Mis s Fegan, m replying, thanked the speakers for their kind remarks and said she would always cherish the gift; received. She fdt keenly the parting with them all, especially the children, who had become endeared to her, and she would always have kind thoughts of Papamoa and her happy associations there.
Afternoon ha was dispensed and with many firm hand-shakes the company dispersed.
