TA U HAN Li A TEAM TO pi*v ' OPUTIKI. Great interest is being taken in th> Huriuui Apanui Shield match to be played on Saturday next between Tauranga (holders) and OpotiKi (challengers). Opouki held the Shield at the beginning of the season and after withstanding challenges from To I’uke, Kaugitaiki Whakataue and Apanui lust the Shield to Tauranga in a great match at Oputiki on July 07 Tauranga then received challenges from Rotorua and Taupo and having defeated both teams has to nlav Oputiki in the final challenge match of the season. i The Oputiki team was chosen last week and is training steadfastly The Tauranga team is very last and it is to be hoped that they will show their very best form in the match on Saturday. Oputiki supporters are particularly keen and a, great crowd of visitors is to be expected, and as the enthusiasm here is very marked a record gate should result. The Tauranga team has been chosen as follows:--Full-back, 11. I’holau; threequarters, K. McLeod, E. lies, H. Kelly: live-eighths, 0. Il es .’ o! Farmer; half-back, R. Mirrielecs; rover, W. Turner; forwards, 0. Cameron. L). Mount fort, Tu Tangitu, E. Policy, 1. Tangitu, 0. Haua, I-. Pickers. .Emergencies: •forwards, Burgess, N. Leslie, A. Kelly: backs, R. Ainsley, A. Tasscll, K. Ikanui, Motutere, The Rugby Union are organising a special benefit for the Injured Players’ Fund. A very heavy call on the funds is certain this season, one serious accident having entailed heavy loss to the player concerned. This wms :i case of a broken leg early in May, which meant 'the loss of three months’ work. It is confidently anticipated that the general public will extend their hearty support to the picture benefit for this purpose on Wednesday, September 11th.
