TAC HANG A CHORAL SOCIETY. “The annual meeting of the Tauranga Choral Socic'-y was held at the Temperance Hail on Tuesday . evening last. “On the motion of Mr Jordan, seconded by Mr Bodell, Mr E. M. Edgcumbo took the chair, Mr G, D. Smith acting as secretary. The report and financial statement which showed a balance to the credit of the society of £l 5/1, were read and adopted. “The following gentlemen were elected fe as a managing committee; Messrs Buddie, Edgcumbo, Hoytc, Hulmc, and Bodell; and the following ladies and gentlemen as a musical committee: Miss Kate Wriglcy, Miss Commons, Mrs W. W. Taylor and Messrs Buddie and Taylor,. Mr Brennan was re-elect-ed Secretary, Mr Buddie Treasurer, and Mr W. W. Taylor accoin- j panist. Mr Hulmc proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Hoytc for the services he had rendered the. Society during the past year. Mr Gardner having seconded this proposition, the Chairman said it afforded him great pleasure to tender to Mr Hoytc the vote of thanks accorded him by the society. ‘ Mr Hoytc replied in a few appropriate words saying his work had been a of love. He thought a great deal of credit was due to the ladies, -, who had assisted him in everything he had undertaken. Votes of thanks were unanimously passed to Mr W. W. Taylor and Mrs Carr. Presentations were made to Mr Hoytc : and to Mr Taylor. “Mr, Taylor proposed altering the name of the society to the Tauranga Musical Society or Glee Club. Considerable discussion ensued on this question, but it was finally resolved by a majority °| those present that the original name bo retained. “A vote of thanks to the chairj man terminated the proceedings.
