RAILWAY ROUTE

BETWEEN GISBORNE AND WAIROA, Gisborne, March 1 The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon, Sir Joseph Ward, to-day ended the controversy in regard to the railway route" between Gisborne and Wairoa. The Government said Sir Joseph, would construct the railway along the sea coast, because' this was cheaper and also because the inland districts could be more easily served now with motor transport than in the past. He was assured by a deputation that now the decision had been finally made the Government would receive the support of those who had worked for the adoption of other routes.
