The season’s work at the tomhi has [ shown a further sarcophagus cover- ■ ed by painted designs and varit coloured glass with a layer of gold on a marble ground. Beneath this [ was another coffin shaped like a human body which is heavily gilded, flowers being tied to* the head bandage and also rested on the breast. Over the gilded head is painted a face representing a young Pharaoh. Finally the actual coffin of Tut-Ankh-Amen was exposed. It is of gold ornamentation and beautiful workmanship though most of the details are concealed by a black glutinous mess, the result of the liberations outpoured at the funeral services. The mummy will be taken out and then wrapped up until the Egyptian Government decides on the last resting place.
