The Mayor, Mr B, Dive, attended the meeting. He said the County Council had agreed to a radius of five miles. Ho understood that a notice of motion had been put in. to rescind that resolution. The Mount was a tourist resort. The object of the abattoir was to ensure wholesome meat and he contended that the Mount should be included in the abattoir area. Ho asked the Council to adhere to the radius of five miles as previously agreed upon. Cr Lally said a petition had been forwarded to the Council objecting to the inclusion of the Mount in the abattoir area. Cr Morton said (Tie County Council, was led to believe that the Mount was compulsorily included in the abattoir area, but they were now told that was not so. They had voted for the motion under a wrong onpression. The Chairman said (here had been a misunderstanding concerning the Mount and the three miles radius. Mr Dive (hanked (ho Council and wididrew. At the meeting of the County Council on October 9 a copy of a petition was forwarded protesting against the Mount being included in the abattoir area. To the same meeting Messrs Sharp, Tudhopo and Wilson forwarded a draft of agreement as between the County of Tauranga and (he Borough of Tauranga, regarding the extension of the abattoir area to a five miles radius lrom the borough boundary.
